ORLAND PARK — State Senator Michael E. Hastings joined Mayor Jim Dodge of Orland Park for a community dinner where neighbors gathered to discuss pressing local issues and opportunities to strengthen the South Suburbs.
“Mayor Dodge and I do not see eye to eye on every issue,” said Hastings (D-Frankfort). “But we both understand something more important — our neighbors want their government to work for them. That was the spirit of our conversation last night.”
The discussion touched on a wide range of topics that affect families across the region. Hastings and Dodge addressed excessive insurance rate increases that strain household budgets, as well as the need for investments in infrastructure and public safety to keep neighborhoods strong.
They also shared perspectives on recent immigration enforcement actions across Chicagoland and highlighted the importance of the Illinois TRUST Act in ensuring communities remain safe and united. The leaders spoke of the grand opening of the Secretary of State’s office in Orland Park, the increased services it is already providing, as well as the progress on announcing a permanent location for residents.
“At the end of the day, the strength of Orland Park and the South Suburbs comes from how well we work together,” said Hastings. “When neighbors come together in good faith, we can take on challenges that seem overwhelming and turn them into opportunities to build a stronger, fairer and safer community for every family.”
Senator Hastings remains committed to an open dialogue and good faith conversations.
